Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve put together a number of the most popular questions I get asked around weddings - if you’ve got a specific question on a funeral, please contact me directly and I’ll be happy to answer!

A celebrant, I like to think, is the start of the party. So many times I have been to weddings where the ceremony feels like it could be any couple standing up there - but you’re not just any couple are you?? A celebrant is a way to introduce you as a couple, share funny stories and in personal ways that encapsulates your love story in front of all your fave people!
-
No, celebrants don’t have the legal right to marry people in the UK. You’ll just need give your notice and book in at your local registry office to do the paperwork but you can save the important stuff like the vows and exchange of rings for the big day. Your wedding venue may already have a registrar, so do check with your wedding venue beforehand!
-
Why not!!
One of the best things about a celebrant-led ceremony is that there are no strict rules. If there are religious readings, cultural traditions, family customs, music, rituals or meaningful moments you'd like to include, we can weave them into your ceremony in a way that feels natural and personal to you. Equally, if you'd prefer a ceremony that's completely non-religious, that's absolutely fine too.
Many couples also choose to include symbolic rituals such as handfasting, ring warming, unity candles, sand ceremonies or tree planting. These can be a lovely way to involve family and friends, add an extra layer of meaning, or simply create a memorable moment within your ceremony.
If you're not sure what any of those involve, don't worry! I'll happily talk you through the options, explain their significance, and help you decide whether they're the right fit for your day.

Absolutely anywhere! The world is your oyster - obviously for private property, you’ll need to ask permission.
I can travel around the UK and internationally to perform your ceremony although this may come at an extra cost.
-
Anytime, day or night!
-
I LOVE animals! And if your wedding venue is ok with it, then I am too! Happy for dog cuddles, or to help your four-legged friend down the aisle!
-
It’s a lovely idea - we can incorporate your guests in the ceremony as much as desired! Readings and poems are lovely way to get more people involved in the day and make sure the people who are most important to you can play a part in the day.
-
I'll wear something smart and in-keeping with your wedding and am more than happy to run an outfit by you beforehand. Usually a suit or a dress!
I’ll make sure I don’t clash with your colour scheme, or are too matching to your bridesmaids - nothing worse than that!!
I want you to feel as comfortable as possible up there - do don’t worry - no outrageous outfits from me!
-
Usually between twenty and forty five minutes, but really depends on how long you want it to be! From my experience, anything longer than that and the guests tend to want to get the party started!
